Little Missouri River

A QUIET RETREAT tucked away in the Ouachitas southeast of Mena, the Little Missouri is a best-kept secret among trout fishermen. There’s nothing little about the rainbows pulled from this scenic spot that spans 29 miles as it flows through the Ouachita National Forest and onto Narrows Dam to form Lake Greeson. Another thing you may not know about Little Mo is that a portion of its upper reaches is classified as “wild.” These Class II to III rapids are intended for experienced paddlers only. The Little Missouri River Trail is a great way to enjoy the river and its surrounding scenery. The trailhead is located at Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro. The short, easy hike leads to the beautiful Little Missouri Falls.
